O’Dowd lakeshore homes in Shakopee offer year-round Minnesota lake home living without sacrificing the big city amenities that the Twin Cities has to offer. Shakopee is only about 23 minutes away from Minneapolis, and O’Dowd Lake in Scott County is just a few minutes further south down Cty Rd 79. Enjoy lakeshore living on a 258 acre with plenty of coves, bays, points, and even a few islands for interesting fishing experiences. Beware… there are a few shallow spots with some rocks that you should get to know. How do I know this? I broke a propeller in this lake.
Scott County lake homes recently listed on the MLS:
Water clarity is only 1.8 feet deep, but it certainly doesn’t bother the big fish that lurk in this lake. This lake is constantly stocked with walleye, and walleye average size is 2.7 pounds, which is above normal for a lake of this size and class. Northern pike and bass are also above average in size, but below average in numbers. If you are looking to catch the walleyes, try fishing with leeches and minnows around the islands. Northern pike in O’Dowd like to eat sucker minnows. If you want bass, try bright plastic worms south of the fishing pier. Kids love fishing for panfish in this lake because you can find them in almost every cove and it does not require much patience to get them. The crappies are small, but they are found here in large numbers.
